Be Unselfish & Thrive!

Welcome!

You see the words Thrive! and Be Unselfish all around the Thrive! Center and Park. Having spent 30 years in Washington DC getting people healthy on a national level, I decided that getting people healthy is not enough. Need food, shelter, education and environment.

That is when Thrive! was born. Then Be Unselfish was born. We need to prevent a bad future. We need a thriving future for all people, all creatures and Earth.

First step is to get everybody to be unselfish. That alone will change the future from bad to good. To thriving future.

That is what I do through social media, websites, books, sculpture and Thrive! Park and Center.

Chris

Be Unselfish

Be unselfish!

We all must be unselfish if we want a surviving and thriving future for all. We all must stop being selfish if we want to avoid a very bad future for humans and other creatures and avoid greater damage to Earth.

We still can, barely, build a surviving and thriving future for all. If and only if we act now.

We still have the ability. We must have the will. Be unselfish!

Help Develop Strategic & Operational Plan To Be Unselfish & Thrive.

Chris, as consultant, uses his strategic and operational planning model (Planning and Implementation Model) and tools to help individuals, organizations, and governments(I/O/G) learn how to successfully plan and execute positive change. Change that helps themselves be unselfish and survive and thrive. Change that helps them help others be unselfish and survive and thrive.

Chris uses the Planning and Implementation Model to help individuals, organizations, and governments generally as follows:

Assess current and projected state of I/O/G.

  • Use Systems Model (including “Ideal Systems”) to understand I/O/G today.

  • Use Status Model to identify current status for “whole” I/O/G to change.

  • Use via Model to analyze actions currently impacting or projected to impact I/O/G.

  • Use Person Model to identify what I/O/G are likely to do in future.

  • Use Population Model to identify what I/O/G populations are likely to do in future.

  • Use Behavioral Effectiveness Model (BEM) to assess projected I/O/G behaviors.

Design strategy to achieve desired status for “whole” I/O/G.

  • Use Systems Model to identify desired future system.

  • Use Status Model to identify desired status.(I/O/G)

  • Use Performance Improvement Model to identify changes needed to progress to desired status.

  • Use via Model to identify potential interventions.

  • Use Person Model to identify what I/O/G should do.

  • Use Population Model to identify what I/O/G populations of people should do.

  • Use BEM to identify ability, motivation and desired behaviors and to develop supportive strategies.

Use Strategy and Supportive Strategies Model to identify and assess and organize supportive strategies.

With above inputs, develop overall, self-perpetuating strategy for I/O/G.

Execute overall strategy and supportive strategies successfully.

Adjust and execute overall strategy and supportive strategies to meet changing inputs and environment.

Help Improve Behavior To Become Unselfish.

Chris, as consultant, uses his Behavior Effectiveness Model (BEM) to help clients learn how to change behavior of themselves and others. In this case, to help become unselfish.

Much of the ineffectiveness of people being unselfish and building a better and preferably a thriving future can be traced to the inability and often lack of motivation to deal positively with human behavior. Traditionally, people trying to effect positive change (e.g., becoming unselfish) are not sufficiently capable of or motivated toward dealing with human behavior.

Becoming unselfish and building a better and thriving future, in part, can be measured in terms of human behavior. For example, when we talk about user problems, we refer to the person’s lack of ability or lack of motivation to do something, e.g., be unselfish. When an individual, organization, or government wants to achieve some positive change and outcome, they must be able (e.g., have sufficient funding, have no legal restrictions, have requisite knowledge and skills) and motivated. Implementers of change must be able and motivated to accept and execute the change.

To be effective, individuals, organizations, and governments need to better assist and/or affect decisions and actions and better design and evaluate change strategies in terms of behavior requirements. The Consultant, using models like BEM, can help do that.

This is how the Consultant uses BEM to help move from selfish to unselfish behavior:

  • Identify the person or population to change behavior from selfish to unselfish .

  • In this case, the desired behavior is be unselfish), a recurring behavior.

  • Assess motivation in terms of its current and future characteristics.

  • Assess ability in terms of its current and future characteristics.

  • Assess environmental variables, both controllable and uncontrollable and both perceived and real.

  • Assess how motivation, ability and environmental variables are likely to affect future behavior (being unselfish) without further intervention.

  • Assess what are likely to be the intrinsic (internal to the person or population) and extrinsic (external to the person or population) consequences of projected behavior and what is likely to be the person or population’s satisfaction.

  • Assess how consequences and satisfaction are likely to affect future behavior (being unselfish).

  • Assess how projected behavior, without further intervention, matches to desired behavior (being unselfish).

  • Assess what interventions will best move projected behavior to desired behavior (being unselfish) for the near and long term.

  • Apply the interventions and assess their effect.
Adjust the interventions as needed over time and based on result.

  • Feed the interventions into overall strategy and supporting strategies.
